James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis share which aspects of their characters they found most intriguing and complementary as they discuss their different approaches to the craft
Line of Events
A family is invited to spend an entire weekend at a lonely house in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that there’s a dark side to the family that invited them. The story is inspired by the experiences of Christian Tafdrup, director of the original Danish film Speak No Evil (2022), who befriended a Dutch couple while on vacation in Tuscany with his wife. Although the Dutch were a bit socially awkward, the two couples hit it off, and after returning home, Tafdrup received an invitation from the Dutch family to come to the Netherlands. He briefly considered it, but decided that it would feel awkward staying with people he didn’t really know; his story for the film came about when he unleashed his darkest fantasies about what might have happened had he accepted (while claiming that the original Dutch couple never gave off any bad vibes).
Presents Nestali u akciji (1984)
In this remake, the nationalities of both families have been changed to American and British. In the bathroom, when he is washing his eye, he has a subconjunctival hemorrhage in his left eye, in the next scene, his eyes are perfectly clear. Ben Dalton: Why are you doing this to us? Paddy: Because you left us!.
James Mcevoy stole the show
Gloria Written by Giancarlo Bigazzi, Umberto Tozzi and Trevor Veitch Published by Sugar Songs UK Ltd Licensed courtesy of Wise Music Group Limited Performed by Laura Branigan Licensed courtesy of Warner Music UK Ltd. His performance blurs the lines between being charismatic and charming and unnerving and sinister. The remake of the Danish film of the same title follows in its footsteps for most of the film, however, it differs in the final act. The original film, I believe, takes it to a level that makes it different and memorable.
However, the remake offers a new twist on the original
The remake struggles to reach the unhinged and downright terrifying moments in the third act that they originally created (especially the final scene in the quarry). A different setting in an English farmhouse that boasts a different type of setting than the original, as well as an American family as the guests. This film provides some special moments where viewers are cringing (in a good way) at the conversations the couples are having. It definitely makes you feel uneasy, especially when you know the nature of the hosts’ intentions.

I just feel like the final act was a little too Hollywood in terms of the families’ actions and the film’s final conclusion. However, I will say that the remake does enough to justify its creation, helped along by a special performance from James and his castmates. Enjoyable :)). The final season of “What We Do in the Shadows” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of this month.
